SEOReport vs DataForSEO On-Page API: which SEO audit API fits?

DataForSEO's On-Page API returns crawl data billed per page; SEOReport returns a fix-ordered diagnosis per site. Output, pricing, auth and MCP compared.

DataForSEO's On-Page API is, in its own words, the customizable crawling engine for extracting website performance data. You post a crawl task with a page limit, then read a summary, the crawled pages with their check-ups, resources, links and duplicate tags. It is billed per crawled page from a prepaid balance. [6][5]

SEOReport's API returns a finished diagnosis of a site: a score and band, a score per area, and every finding in fix order with the fix and how to verify it. It is sold as a monthly plan with a set number of new-site diagnoses. Prices on both sides change; the figures below were read on 18 October 2026. [1][2]

What a run returnsA finished diagnosis per site: the overall score and its band, a score for each area, open issues by severity, and every finding in fix order with why it matters, how to fix it, how to verify the fix, and the evidence and pages behind it. JSON, Markdown, text or PDF.Crawl data. The summary endpoint gives an onpage_score on a 100-point scale (DataForSEO notes it depends on the number of crawled pages) and counts of issues; other endpoints list crawled pages with check-ups, resources, links and duplicate title or description tags. [1][6][7]
Checks and fix guidanceEach finding carries why it matters, the fix, how to verify it, and its evidence and pages, ranked in fix order.Checks websites for 60+ customizable on-page parameters; DataForSEO says it displays all found flaws and opportunities so that you can fix them. Ordering them into a plan is left to your code (our reading of the docs). [1][8]
How runs are meteredMonthly credits. One credit runs a complete diagnosis of one new site URL in a calendar month; running a URL again after you have its completed report does not use a credit. Unused credits do not roll over.Per crawled page: $0.00015 for a basic crawl ($0.15 per 1,000 pages), $0.0015 with JavaScript loading, $0.0051 with browser rendering. The same page's summary says pricing starts at $0.000125 per crawled page. [2][5][6]
Entry priceEssential $19/month (15 credits), Pro $39/month (50), Agency $89/month (150). API and MCP access on every plan; white-label PDFs on Pro and Agency.Pay as you go with no subscription: a $50 minimum top-up, and the balance never expires. [2][10]
Crawl controlThe request takes the URL, plus "forceRerun": true to scan a site again. Our public pages document no page-limit, rendering or threshold settings.Stronger here: max_crawl_pages, start_url, custom_robots_txt, respect_sitemap and crawl_delay, three rendering levels, custom thresholds and custom JavaScript rules, and a Force Stop endpoint. [1][5]
Volume15, 50 or 150 new-site diagnoses a month, by plan; reruns of those sites are free.Stronger for bulk work: up to 2,000 API calls per minute, each POST carrying up to 100 tasks, with up to 30 simultaneous requests. [2][8]
AuthenticationA Bearer API key created in a paid account. The same key opens the REST endpoints and the MCP server.HTTP Basic authentication with an API login and an API password that DataForSEO generates, different from the account password. [1][9]
Official MCP serverYes. https://seoreport.dev/mcp over Streamable HTTP with the same Bearer key, 9 tools: create, poll, list, read and download reports, read the account, list plans, start checkout and send feedback.Yes. An official remote endpoint at https://mcp.dataforseo.com/v3/mcp with Basic authentication, covering the On-Page API alongside SERP, Keyword Data, Labs, Backlinks and other APIs. [4][11]
Keyword, backlink and SERP dataNone. SEOReport sells site diagnoses and weekly monitoring, not keyword, backlink or SERP data.Stronger here: SERP, Keyword Data, DataForSEO Labs, Backlinks, Domain Analytics and more from the same account. [1][11][10]

When to choose DataForSEO On-Page API

Choose DataForSEO when you are building your own audit product or pipeline and want raw crawl data under your control: page limits, start URL, robots handling, crawl delay, rendering level and your own thresholds and JavaScript rules, all set per task. [5]

It also fits large or irregular volumes. You pay per crawled page from a balance that never expires, with daily spending limits per API or endpoint, and the same account reaches SERP, keyword and backlink data. [5][10]

When to choose SEOReport

Choose SEOReport when the deliverable is the diagnosis itself: a ranked list of what to fix on a site, each item with why it matters, the fix, how to check the fix worked, and the pages it was seen on. That is what the report export contains, so there is no prioritisation layer to build on top. [1]

The cost is a fixed monthly plan rather than a per-page meter: one credit per new site in a month, and a rerun of a site you already have a report for uses no credit. Pro and Agency add white-label PDFs for client work. [2]

An agent can run the whole flow itself: the MCP server takes the same API key as REST, and its tools start a report, wait for it, and read the findings and score. The URL only has to be publicly reachable. [1][4]

Using both together

Our suggestion, not a joint integration: use DataForSEO for the data SEOReport does not sell, such as SERP positions, keyword volumes and backlinks, and SEOReport for the fix-ordered diagnosis of each site you work on. Each needs its own credentials; an agent can hold both MCP servers at once. [11][1][4]

Every endpoint, the MCP server and the plans are on the SEO report API page. API and MCP access come with every paid plan.
